Weekend Retreats for State Art Education Associations
New Hampshire representative Lori Sweeney receiving a Da Vinci Initiative Weekend Retreat on behalf of the New Hampshire Art Education Association at the National Art Education Association leadership meeting in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The Da Vinci Initiative provides two, $3,000 grants to State Art Education Associations each year to host a studio-based weekend retreat for their members. Each grant covers the following costs:
• An Atelier Artist to Teach a Hands-On Workshop
• Space Rental for 2 Days
• Art Supplies
DVI prefers not to ask art teachers to fill out paperwork in order to receive a grant. Instead, grants are awarded randomly to states during the annual leadership meeting run by the National Art Education Association. Each state is entered in a raffle, and grants are awarded to the two states that are drawn. Previous winners are not eligible.
For the 2015-2016 school year, we are pleased to announce that the Colorado and Utah Art Education Associations will receive up to $3,000 from The Da Vinci Initiative for weekend retreats.
For the 2014-2015 school year, the Washington, New Hampshire, and Wyoming Art Education Associations received up to $3,000 from The Da Vinci Initiative for weekend retreats. The Wyoming and New Hampshire Art Education Associations won their retreats at a Da Vinci Initiative giveaway during the National Art Education Association Leadership Meeting held July 24-27, 2014.
Although DVI has a limited number of free retreats to give away, we use our connections with artists to provide opportunities for education associations all over the country. Please contact us if you are a board member of a state art education association and are interested in hosting a skill-based learning weekend retreat for your membership.
