Below is a summary of professional development policies by state. The DaVinci Initiative provides this information as a service to teachers, and updates this page regularly. Because policies are always changing, The DaVinci Initiative does not guarantee the accuracy of any information on this page. To be sure you will be able to receive professional development credits for taking Da Vinci Initiative courses, please check with your state's office of public instruction. The DaVinci Initiative will provide a certificate of completion and attendance sheets for all coursework upon request.
Alabama
Alaska For CEU credit, course must be 15+ hours of contact time. Certificate of completion required. The DaVinci Initiative must submit the coursework for approval for each workshop prior to completion by teacher. If you are from Alaska, please notify The DaVinci Initiative PRIOR to enrolling in a class to ensure you are eligible for Continuing Education Credits. Arizona Professional development credits need to be approved by individual districts and/or regional center. If you are a teacher from Arizona and wish to take a Da Vinci Initiative Course for professional development credits, please let us know and we will make an effort to get certified for your district. Arkansas Attendance record and Certificate of Completion are required. Each course must be submitted for approval, and each course must must be approved 30 days prior to course. Courses must be 15+ hours of contact time. The teacher is responsible for seeking course approval. The DaVinci Initiative has found contradictory information about Continuing Education Credits in Arkansas. Please e-mail your state office of public instruction for verification. California Course must be approved and certified through an online form that requires course dates and description. Colorado Teacher has to seek approval from their local districts to receive continuing education credits for DaVinci Initiative courses. Connecticut Delaware Delaware has nine state-run centers for teacher professional development. It is unclear if teachers are eligible for Continuing Education Units for out of state or online courses. Florida Professional development credits need to be approved by individual districts. If you are a teacher from Florida and wish to take a Da Vinci Initiative Course for Continuing Education Units, please let us know and we will make an effort to get certified for your district. Georgia Georgia requires a minimum of 10 contact hours for one professional learning unit. Each class needs to be approved by both the Department of Education and then also by the Professional Practices Commission. If you are a teacher from Georgia and wish to take a Da Vinci Initiative Course for Continuing Education Units, please let us know and we will make an effort to get certified in Georgia for your class. |
Hawaii For Continuing Education Units, teachers must submit an attendance sheet, course description, and class agenda. Teachers must take a minimum of two contact hours, and one point is awarded for every two contact hours. Teachers are responsible for submitting their own paperwork.
