Summer Workshops Equip Teachers with Technical Skills for the Classroom
This month, Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, Washington hosted week-long Da Vinci Initiative workshops for educators. The courses focused on drawing, with an emphasis on composition, values, charcoal handling, observation skills, measuring, and proportion. Not only did participants practice advance drawing techniques, but the workshops also highlighted how technical skills can be effectively translated back into the classroom.
As seen below, participants learned how to set up a still-life and light it using sophisticated composition principles. They focused on drawing form by applying newly-learned block-in and shading techniques.
